Welcome to the May 12, 2008 edition of ![]()
So many environmental concerns can be linked to what my grandmother calls a “throw-away” lifestyle. In fact a conversation with my grandmother a few weeks back motivated the theme of this edition: Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce. We received many wonderful posts, so settle down with a cup of tea or some Shade Grown Fair Trade Organic Joe and enjoy!
Reduce, Recycle & Reuse!!!
When it comes to recycling and reducing waste, we often forget that many items can be reused! Stephanie at Stop the Ride has shared some of her family’s practical, economical and oh very green ideas in her post/photo essay Repurpose, Recycle.

And, Melissa of Better Living presents a thoughtful look at what Buying in Bulk really means, depending on where and how you shop!
Sommer of Green & Clean Mom gets the kiddos involved with Crayon Recycling. What a great way to have a little fun, while teaching kids that new is not always better!
Vicky at I Can’t Remember presents some ideas for Non-disposable Alternatives to Disposable Items.
If you are a bottled water addict who is looking to cut out down on your plastic waste, then check out Guffly Group’s post on What The Filter?

My father is an environmentalist at heart, yet every year he rakes up leaves and sends them off to the landfill. At least he figures “something besides plastic” will be in the landfill to make future soil. If you think like my father and you love a green lawn, then you need to read Amy’s posts Using Fall Leaves To Fertilize And Protect Your Lawn and Organic Pesticides For A Safe Lawn posted at Housekeeping Tips.
Melanie presents Gardening Leave posted at Bean-Sprouts, saying, “A hard day’s work on the allotment, cultivating and planting vegetables for the new season.”
Sarah shares with us Organic Weed Control Methods And Herbicides and Managing Lawn Care During A Drought — both articles are posted at Lawn Care Tips.
And, last but not least Amanda of the eFamilyBlogger presents What You Need to Know About Buying Organic. Pesticides and other additives to food are in my book just another waste and further detriment to the environment. So, read Amanda’s article and think twice the next time you go shopping!
