One night when I was driving home I noticed a barn and thought, "what a funny way to build a barn." The framework was all there and one wall and half the roof. As I continued driving and saw the rest of the sides and roof scattered across the fields it dawned on me what had happened. Tornadoes can do weird things. I use to live in the tornado belt in southeast Kansas and drove 35 miles to work each day and, surprisingly, 35 miles home each night. By fresh picked -- I mean from the farmer's market or a neighbor's yard! Older asparagus picks up a bitter flavor and can be fibrous, which doesn't enhance the experience! Fresh fresh fresh asparagus is mildly sweet and could even be eaten raw. Glad you were all safe and not caught up in it.
