I wrote about Sponges with a Twist earlier this year, and I even promised to test their compostable claim and report back. I finally got around to buying a new pack of European Sponge cloths this morning, so I was thinking I should get in gear and report back. I decided to read my RSS feeds for the day first, and came upon this timely post on Twist Sponges (plus discount code!) over at Cool Mom Picks.
Compost update:
Loofah Sponge — At about 4 months I still see a small piece of the Loofah when I turn my compost, but I haven’t seen the sponge part for at least 2 months, maybe more.
European Sponge Cloth — At 7 weeks I checked it and there were still some shreds, but a few weeks later there was no evidence of the cloth. So, I would say that it completely biodegraded in flower bed in about 10 weeks.
The European Sponge Cloth at E3 is $3.99 and I only paid $3.25 for it this morning at my local store, so you may wish to check around before clicking through. However, if you don’t find them locally (check Whole Foods) and you are trying to eliminate paper towel usage I highly recommend the European Sponge cloth, as it wipes up spills even better than a squishy absorbent paper towel! They also appear to have a new product that is similar made out of Bamboo, which I’d like to try, but they don’t sell it yet at my grocery. Let me know if you have used it and what you think!
Life is always better with a little twist ![]()

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackAwesome post, glad to hear they do work. I have some of the Twist products sitting waiting to be tested. Do you mind if I link to your post when I write my review cause I don’t have a compost bin yet.
Sure Lisa, no problem! It would be great for you to link back when you do your review! It will be interesting to see what you think of their products.
