So I am jazzed! All fired up! Ready to Rock and Roll the GREEN* carpet out for my fellow EcoMoms! I promise it is not the caffeine (although at present I am enjoying a free soy latte (yay coupon!) in my stainless mug and free wireless at a local coffee joint and a quiet morning sans Baby Green Me). My enthusiasm is in fact a carry over from last night, when I held my first event as an EcoMom Leader - a gloriously fun, informative (and totally off schedule) EcoMom Party!

The Green Me living room was packed to capacity with 20 local moms - including a few green celebrities - such as the Crunchy Domestic Goddess, a local Colorado APLS leader and a member of Longmont Moms Go Green! Lots of inspiration was felt and shared by fellow moms and everyone really seemed to get into the discussion. We had wonderful donations (a big thanks to Rudi’s Bakery and TWIST) and a spread of local wine, beer, apple cider, flowers, food and most importantly - INFORMATION.

Party Low-Down:

We started off with a little mingling (the first reason we got off schedule…lol) and then after a brief history of the EcoMom Alliance and my personal inspiration I showed the Story of Stuff (if you have yet to watch this - set aside 21 minutes and Annie Leonard will show you who, what, when, where, and why our political, economic, and social system are following and unsustainable path) and then I got in to the EcoMom 10 Steps for a Sustainable Future.

The only downbeat to the evening was that it was about 18 hours too short and so we ran out of time, didn’t discuss everything and didn’t have enough time for an a complete  peer to peer sharing session! Of course the bright side to the lack of time is it was an optimal set-up for suggesting future EcoMom Circles!!! And since we only seriously made it through steps 1 through 6 before we ran out of time — I have plans to continue publishing posts the 10 Steps to a Sustainable Future and how the Green Me family is working to complete each step on this blog. And, for those of you who are in Colorado - specifically the Front Range/Denver Metro area — I will be adding a new resource page to the blog with links to other local green bloggers and other information from my EcoMom Party Presentation.

Oh…and for those of you who Twitter - I signed up way back when, but was reluctant to use it because I didn’t have a texting plan — well now I am ready to get rolling - look up GreenMeBlog to keep tabs on me and my daily greening!

Okay - I gotta run as I have food preservation on the docket for the day! I will update the post with a few photos later and write about a sweet, but unofficial blogosphere award that I received.

Cheerio!

Green Me

*Totally off topic, but don’t you think it would be a great idea if all those Prius driving Hollywood Greenies would press for “green” carpets made out of post consumer recycled materials for their big Hollywood events?
