Despite the fact that the Green Me Family does not eat regular candy we usually splurge at Costco on a few big bags of mixed treats for Halloween. However now that we have our own little one to contend with — I could not rightly pass out High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and hydrogenated oils to the neighborhood kiddos. Fortunately, I was able to track down the Natural Candy Store that I came across earlier this year in my search for natural food dyes for Baby Green Me’s Birthday Cake frosting.

The goods offered by the Natural Candy Store are certainly a bit more pricey than a big bag from Costco; however, it is all natural, made in the USA or Italy, and HFCS free! So, you can let your kids enjoy it and pass it out guilt free! Definitely a situation in which “less is more” equates to the cup being “half full!” In fact the candy I ordered fit my large candy bowl just perfectly, so we’ll have lots of options for the ghouls and ghosts that ring our door bell next Friday!

The store is also ready for the Halloween rush, as I put in my order Wednesday afternoon, the candy shipped Wednesday night and arrived this morning (Friday)! I paid for standard shipping, but please make note that I am in the region that they deliver to the most quickly (read the West), so if you live in New York, please expect it to take a few more days. Please check this link for shipping deadlines and put in your order today or tomorrow you should still get your goodies in time for Halloween!

To make matters even better, they also included a few extra treats, including natural gummy worms and gummy bears and some fair trade chocolate. I am not sure if they always do this, but it was certainly appreciated — especially because I am always a sucker for gummy worms and gummy bears!  I am also excited by our natural Halloween candy collection, as we have a neighborhood game of “Boo” in circulation and I need to restock the bags with good candy before making our deliveries! The more folks see the labels “natural and organic” show up on candy that looks good and tastes good too, the more likely they are to keep their kids away from the bad stuff!

And, if I haven’t stimulated your sweet tooth enough to get you to click over to the Natural Candy Store, perhaps I can help you envision what you might order for your favorite goblins:

You might wish to start with some Fair Trade Chocolate and Honey Mint Patties. Both are tasty I promise (just ate one of each). For the fruity and or sweet and sour kids in your bunch you might try a mixed bag of organic lollipops and one of their many hard candies. We bought the Bombottini Citrus Tarts, which truly do melt in your mouth, but unlike your common sweet tart they didn’t leave behind a burning sensation on my tongue. For classic candy lovers I recommend their wide selection of caramels and mints. I was pleased to find that they carry Brittany Carmel Pops as these are a favorite of Baby Green Me’s Grandmother LaLa. The Angel Mints are the poofy kind that also melt in your mouth. I just ate one and it was very very good and now my morning coffee breath is oh so minty fresh! Finally, if you are not the type who likes to make decisions, don’t despair they also have several selections of pre-mixed Hallloween Candy, so that you can just click, pay and go!

Now it is 11 AM and I have had 3 cups of coffee, a handfull of candy and no breakfast, so I better sign off before I jitter right off my keyboard! (You didn’t actually expect me to review the candy with out eating it first did you?)
